Vegan and Cruelty Free Nail Brands UK – 2021!

Vegan and Cruelty Free Nail Polish Gel Nails Banner

Vegan & Cruelty Free Nails

The market for vegan and cruelty free makeup has exploded over the last few years, but for a long time it has felt as though cruelty free and vegan nails were lagging behind.

This seems to have changed just in the last year or so, and a few of the brands on this list are totally new to me! I’m totally in love with Barry M, so until recently I relied solely on their nail polish collection. Now, as I write this post, I realise it’s time for me to branch out and try some of the new (and old!) brands on this impressive list of cruelty free and vegan nail brands that have hit the shelves in the UK.

All of the vegan and cruelty free nail brands on this list are available to buy at Superdrug or Boots in the UK.

Cruelty Free & Vegan Nail Brands

Superdrug Vegan and Cruelty Free Nail Polish, Nail Varnish Remover and Accessories

Most of Superdrug’s own brand products are cruelty free and vegan, which includes their own nail varnish remover, accessories and range of press-on false nails. In addition, Superdrug have an own-brand called Studio London which sells two incredibly affordable sets of vegan nail polish. Studio London is also a completely cruelty free brand.

Best for: beginners, or those on a low budget

Barry M and Studio London Cruelty Free & Vegan Nail Varnishes

Barry M Vegan & Cruelty Free Nail Polish

As I mentioned above, Barry M are one of my all time favourite brands. As of very recently, they are also a 100% vegan brand! There’s nothing better than being able to shop with a brand knowing that you don’t need to check a single label. They have an impressive, ever-growing range of shades and textures of polish, although they still don’t sell nail varnish remover or accessories. They also have a range of breathable polishes, for those who want to protect or repair their nails, and a ‘Green Origin’ range, made with 70% certified natural ingredients.

Personally, I don’t think there is anywhere else you can get such good quality cruelty free and vegan nail polish for such an affordable price.

Best for: no-fuss all-rounders

All Tigers Cruelty Free, Natural & Vegan Nail Lacquers

All Tigers is a new, mid-to-high-end brand that sell a range of cruelty free and vegan lip and nail products. They are developing their brand on Instagram, asking for feedback on their products and formulas from future customers. They’re currently developing a range of eyeshadows, which you can preorder on their website now.

Their vegan ‘Nail Lacquers’ are 9-free and made of 83% natural or plant-derived ingredients. The range of shades is currently limited to neutrals, reds and purples, potentially due to their natural formulas. Although, as a die-hard red nail wearer, I could have a field day!

Best for: if you’re looking for natural ingredients

10 Budget Cruelty Free Makeup Brands

Elegant Touch Cruelty Free False Nails

Elegant Touch are well known for their false nails, sold en masse in Boots. Although I can’t be sure if any of their products are vegan (not yet, anyway!) they are a 100% cruelty free nail brand. They have pre-glued instant nails and old-fashioned stick-em-on-yourself false nails in a bunch of different colours, styles and sizes. They also sell loads of nail accessories!

Best for: false nails and accessories

Orly and Nailkind Vegan and Cruelty Free Nail Varnish

Nailkind Cruelty Free, Vegan and Natural Nails

Nailkind is yet another new brand on the scene. Their nail polishes are up to 85% bio-sourced, vegan, animal and planet friendly. They also hail themselves to be high performance and intensely shiny (although, don’t they all?!). For these claims, they are very reasonably priced at £9.50 per bottle. Much like All Tigers, they don’t quite have the same range of colours and seem to be in mostly neutral or red/purple shades.

Best for: if you’re looking for natural ingredients

Nails Inc Cruelty Free, Vegan and Eco Friendly Nails

Nails Inc sell a range of nail products and bits and pieces of makeup, too. Their nail polishes are all cruelty free and vegan, and they also have an eco-friendly range. These are similar to All Tigers and Nailkind in that they have a high percentage of natural ingredients (73% in this case). What makes these stand out, however, is their packaging. Their glass bottles are topped with a “recyclable and sustainable eco-friendly 100% FSC ash wooden cap” which drastically reduces plastic output.

Best for: if you’re looking for low-plastic

Orly Cruelty Free and Vegan Gel Nails

Orly nail products are certified cruelty free by Cruelty Free International, and all of their products are vegan. As well as a range of standard nail varnish, Orly sell a range of vegan and cruelty free gel nail products, for use under a UV lamp. They even do DIY kits that you can choose based on your skill level! If you’re shopping in the UK, you will have to head to their online store for their gel products as only their regular nail polishes are sold at Superdrug.

Best for: vegan and cruelty free gel nails!
