Vegan & Cruelty Free Luxury Body Moisturisers

Vegan Body Lotion

As time goes on, vegan skincare climbs ever higher on my list of priorities. When I first started blogging I was still in my teens, and I was makeup obsessed. Don’t get me wrong, I still love a good pigmented eyeshadow and there are few things I love more than getting dressed up for an evening. In the in-betweens, however, I have learned that if I take care of myself and my skin, I don’t need makeup every day.

I mean, maybe I’m not the person to vouch for that, because I don’t have to look at myself all that often. But I don’t feel as though I need it.

My last post was all about my vegan and cruelty free skincare routine. I couldn’t imagine starting or ending my day without at least a little skincare these days, but like I say, I haven’t always felt that way. The natural next step, after taking care of the skin on your face (the most important skin you have!), is taking care of your body.

“Luxury vegan body moisturiser” sounds like heaven to me these days. I’ve rounded up a few of my favourites here, so you don’t have to go down the same (expensive) road of trial-and-error that I did!

Luxury Vegan Body Moisturisers

vegan & cruelty free luxury body lotions

Although I write a lot about affordable vegan skincare and I do LOVE a bargain, sometimes I love to splash out. There’s something extra-special about using an expensive or luxury product sparingly, knowing that you want to get the most out of every drop.

Lush Sleepy Vegan Body Lotion

Okay, this one’s a little bit of a cheat. This luxurious vegan body lotion by Lush was included in the post I published last week! I wouldn’t normally feature the same product twice in a row, but this lotion actually inspired this blog post so I just couldn’t leave it out.

I ordered a fresh pot of this Sleepy Lavender Body Lotion last week and opening it was like setting the world to rights. It has everything you need: it’s cruelty free and vegan, arrives in a recycled pot and feels and smells like heaven. It does have its downsides; if you don’t like lavender, or strong scents, this definitely isn’t the one for you. It can also be greasy, so it’s definitely a nighttime-application-only kind of product.

I know a lot of sustainability gurus have their reservations about Lush, but I’m not one of them. If there was a holy grail vegan body lotion, for me, this would be it.

This is available exclusively online or in-stores at Lush.

“Blanket your body in this lovely lotion before stepping into soft pyjamas for snuggly nights beside the fire.”

Conscious Skincare Natural Body Moisturiser

This product is made with fair trade shea butter and coconut oil for a simple but extremely effective vegan body moisturiser. It also includes apricot kernel oil and organic sunflower oil to moisturise and replenish your skin.

I’ve linked this in the scent “Sweet Orange and Frangipani” because it’s my favourite. You can also buy this in several scents, including unscented, if you’d rather add your own!

As well as being a vegan body moisturiser, it’s a great eco-friendly option. It comes in a glass bottle, which you can buy with or without the pump, and you can buy a larger re-fill option to lower your waste even more.

This is available to buy online at Conscious Skincare, Ethical Superstore, Not on the High Street and many other small retailers.

“This natural body moisturiser soothes and nourishes. Sweet Orange and Frangipani essential oils add a rich and indulgent scent.”

Spa of the World Thai Makrut Lime Firming Oil

This product is an oil rather than a lotion or body moisturiser, but it is luxurious and vegan which are my two absolute requirements for this post.

It’s by The Body Shop, which I know doesn’t exactly scream “luxurious” (no shade to The Body Shop). They have been branching out designing some higher-end products recently, and I’m all here for it. This firming oil is 100% vegan and cruelty free, and is also shown to make the skin look smoother and firmer.

This is available to buy online or in store exclusively at The Body Shop.

“Our new body oil is infused with zingy makrut lime, praised by Thai women for its stimulating and uplifting scent.

Philosophy Natural Body Lotion with Cactus Fruit Extract

This absolutely decadent vegan and cruelty free body lotion by Philosophy is perhaps the opposite of Lush’s Sleepy Lotion. That is to say, it’s perfect for the morning. It melts into your skin and leaves you feeling great all day, but it is lightweight and doesn’t linger. It has a fresh, clean scent which is more likely to wake you up than put you to sleep!

Not only is this body lotion vegan, it is also formulated without parabens, phthalates, sulfates and 30+ more nasties (although there’s no mention of what those nasties are on their website). Cactus fruit extract is anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial, making it a great ingredient all-round, especially in skincare. It also comes packaged in 50% recycled materials.

The best thing about this product is that it is also widely available at Boots, John Lewis, Debenhams, Look Fantastic and several other major retailers.

“refreshing lightweight, creamy natural body lotion quickly melts into skin for immediate hydration that lasts all day.”

Those are four of my absolute favourite vegan and cruelty free luxury body lotions. If you’re looking for more vegan skincare, try my post on vegan moisturisers and foundations with SPF protection!
