Pestle & Mortar is a high-end cruelty free skincare brand founded in Ireland by Sonia Deasy, who still owns and is actively involved with the brand. Pestle & Mortar was founded upon Sonia’s belief that skincare shouldn’t be complicated, inspired by her heritage in Indian natural healing.

Is Pestle & Mortar Cruelty Free?

Yes, Pestle & Mortar is a cruelty free brand. They don’t test their ingredients or finished products on animals, and don’t use suppliers or third parties that test on animals.

Pestle & Mortar are certified cruelty free and vegan by Peta. Although Peta’s certifications aren’t the most reliable, they are still a good indicator of a brands’ cruelty free status or the direction they are headed in. In addition, Pestle and Mortar don’t export their products to Mainland China, where animal testing is required by law.

They state on their website:

“Our brand has been cruelty-free and vegan since the start with over 3000 potentially harmful ingredients formally banned from our products.”
