Is Illamasqua Cruelty Free & Vegan?

Illamasqua Makeup Cruelty Free and Vegan Status Banner

Illamasqua are a cruelty free makeup brand that began in the UK but is now available all over the world. They have positioned themselves as a brand for professional quality makeup at high-street prices, though by my standards they are still a mid-to-high-end brand. (Everything I have ever bought from Illamasqua has been in a sale, anyway!)

“At Illamasqua we are on a mission to empower all with the confidence to express their true self”

In the UK, you can buy Illamasqua in-store at Selfridges and Debemhams, or online at their website, Look Fantastic, Beauty Bay, and ASOS.

Is Illamasqua Cruelty Free?

Yes, Illamasqua is a cruelty free brand. Illamaqua are certified as cruelty free by Peta, and they don’t sell their products in China where animal testing is required by law.

They say on their website:

Illamasqua products have NEVER and will NEVER be tested on animals. Since the brand launched in 2008, we made a strong commitment to never support or permit animal testing on any of our products, and only work with suppliers who uphold these principles.

Illamasqua are owned by The Hut Group, a UK-based parent company. I don’t have enough information to say for sure whether this parent company is cruelty free or not!

Are Illamasqua Products Vegan?

Illamasqua have a whole range of cruelty free and vegan makeup, which you can browse on their website. There is a page of vegan makeup recommendations here, or you can simply browse all of their vegan products here.

Their products still don’t have clear vegan labels on their ingredients, so make sure you’re armed with a list if you’d rather shop in-store!

Are Illamasqua a Sustainable Brand?

Unfortunately, there is no information online about Illamasqua’s policies around sustainability. Although they look gorgeous, much of their makeup does come in unnecessarily large plastic packaging. If you’re looking for an eco-friendly option, Illamasqua might not be the brand for you!
