Evolve Beauty Climate Veil Tinted SPF Review

Review of Evolve Organic Beauty Climate Veil Tinted Moisturiser

Evolve Organic Beauty

Evolve Beauty‘s organic, cruelty free and vegan beauty and makeup range first came onto my radar a few years ago when I received their Daily Renew Facial Cream in a subscription box. The inoffensive packaging meant it was put to one side until I had run out of moisturiser. When I finally tried it I was met with a really pleasant surprise. It still is really high up on my list of favourite vegan moisturisers – the only reason I didn’t repurchase it at the time was the price.

Evolve Organic Beauty say on their website:

“We make small batches of skincare by hand in our artisan studio in Hertfordshire, which means that your skincare is fresher when you open the bottle. When you buy from Evolve Organic Beauty, you are buying a bottle full of our care and passion. This is our promise to you.”

I purchased Evolve Beauty’s Climate Veil Tinted SPF Day Cream because I wanted something all-in-one for the summer. I’m a fuss-free kind of girl, so knowing it would moisturise, protect me from the sun and add a bit of colour all in one go won me over. I also bought a few sample-sizes of products, which has only made my Evolve wish list even longer!

Climate Veil Tinted Moisturiser

Evolve Beauty’s Climate Veil Tinted SPF is reef safe and SPF 20, two things that aren’t commonly found in the same bottle. SPF so often comes from chemicals that aren’t safe for wildlife that this is a refreshing and needed change.

The consistency of this is more liquidy than I thought it would be. You can’t pump it out then turn around to do something you’ve forgotten. It has to go straight on your face, otherwise it’ll slide between between your fingers! That doesn’t mean that coverage is thin, though. It actually provides more coverage than I expected and has reduced my use of foundation. It can go either on top of moisturiser or go straight onto cleansed skin – if you have dry skin, I’d definitely recommend moisturiser first.

When it first goes on it does look quite shiny, but it soaks in after five or ten minutes without losing the coverage or the dewy glow. In terms of how it looks on your skin, it’s definitely the best vegan BB cream/tinted moisturiser I’ve ever tried.

It doesn’t have a super fragrant smell (that’ll be the ‘no toxic chemicals’). It smells kind of fresh, but a little like foundation too.

Evolve Climate Veil Price & Range

Like I mentioned above, I would class Evolve Beauty as a ‘high-end’ range, and for me they’re a ‘treat yourself’ kind of purchase. I’m careful not to wear my Climate Veil every day, because I love it so much and I don’t want it to run out!

It is £28 for a 50ml bottle, which really isn’t bad value at all. For reference, the standard size for a BB cream or foundation is around 30ml. For some people that’s pretty standard value, and for others that’s totally out of their price range. Relativity is everything, but for me this was a splurge.

Something else that caught my eye was that this only comes in one shade: ‘light/medium’. Evolve Beauty have since added a disclaimer to their website stating that they are working on providing a wider range of shades, but it’s been held up by the Covid pandemic. Although it would have been great to see this in several shades straight from the launch, I’m glad to see that the problem is on their radar.

I am a very nondescript shade of pale, and the ‘light/medium’ shade seems to blend in whether or not I’m wearing fake tan. I’d say for caucasians its relatively versatile. That being said, I probably wouldn’t recommend it to anyone super pale.

Evolve Organic Beauty Packaging and Sustainability

Evolve has been ahead of the game with their packaging, and many of their products come in glass containers. That includes the Climate Vail Tinted SPF, which comes in a glass bottle with a plastic pump. I’d love to see them selling refill bottles without plastic pumps. Some of their products still come in plastic bottles, which is made of 75% recycled PET. They also have some great features on their blog about how to reuse your empty containers!

Evolve moved into a new ‘Eco Studio’, which uses 100% wind power and low energy lighting. Because everything is manufactured in the UK, if you’re buying here in the UK you don’t have to worry about air miles. Of course, the use of natural products is great for the environment too!
